CACHOEIRA DAS CARRANCAS
The beautiful Cachoeira das Carrancas is one of the many waterfalls that make Santa Bárbara do Tugúrio a natural park. The waters form a small lake and then flow calmly through the small creek of Saint Lucia.
The origin of the name Carrancas, which is a common word in the vocabulary of Minas Gerais, is due to the great landowner Francisco Bernanos, who in the very distant past was heir to the land where the Carrancas waterfall is today. Because of his bad mood he was known as"Smiling Boy". Oral tradition tells that people commented on going to bathe in the waterfall of"Smiling Boy"and over the years it came to be called Cachoeira das Carrancas.
Many Pousada guests with little time or looking for a waterfall with easy access visit this waterfall. More information at the reception of the Pousada.
