GIL WATERFALL

Cachoeira do Gil em Santa Bárbara do Tugúrio em Minas Gerais

Cachoeira is a small waterfall in Santa Bárbara do Tugúrio in Minas Gerais.  Filled with water from the Riacho dos Moreiras, its main characteristics are its small lake and the small beach used by bathers. As it is a waterfall without many stones, it is highly appreciated by our guests.

The origin of the name, the story goes, is from the Jewish judge Gil, who upon seeing it for the first time said: "Baruch Hashem, this is a piece of heaven on earth". Legend has it that Gil threw a gold coin into the lake, so enchanted was he with the landscape, hence its golden color at certain times of the day.
