CASTELO WATERFALL
Cachoeira do Castelo is a large waterfall in Santa Bárbara do Tugúrio in Minas Gerais that enchants visitors for its unique feature, its various natural pools that were formed by years of water pressure on the rocks. Waterfall is divided into two sections. The first is the upper part where most visitors arrive. There are small waterfalls and natural pools. In the second part there is the big drop over 31.5 meters high. The two sections add up to more than 60m of waterfall. There is also a small cave formed by the force of the waters.
There is no consensus on the origin of the name of the waterfall. Some stories say that it is due to the region where the fall is, others that it refers to a stone at the end of the Mato Dentro road, a stone that"reminds me of a castle". There is also a third version that says that there was a small electricity generator in the place and the residents of the region at the time of its operation said that the"energy supplied by the generator could light a castle".
